Gion Shizuka: A Unique Experience of Japanese Culture with Sukiyaki and Sake

Nestled in the one-of-a-kind location of Gion, Kyoto, Gion Shizuka offers guests a rare opportunity to experience the deep world of Japanese sake and the graceful traditions of Geisha and Maiko. To celebrate this, the restaurant is now offering a special “Sukiyaki Set” for lunchtime only.

Exclusive Sukiyaki Set for Lunch

The Sukiyaki features Tajima Gyu, a premium beef from Kobe, raised by Ueda Livestock, known for its exceptional quality. With a lower fat melting point compared to regular wagyu, the beef has a melt-in-your-mouth texture, similar to tuna otoro. This dish is thoughtfully paired with a unique stock made from the beef’s fat and a touch of Daiginjo sake to bring out a rich aroma and flavor.

Indulge in this exquisite Sukiyaki, perfectly paired with carefully selected sake.

Premium Sake Pairing Options

For dinner, Gion Shizuka offers two types of sake pairing courses:

  • Standard Pairing Course (22,000 yen)
  • Premium Pairing Course (26,400 yen)

Each course features nine kinds of sake from selected breweries across Japan, paired with a carefully crafted kaiseki course by Michelin-starred chefs, featuring Kyoto-style oden, sashimi, and more.

Our second floor offers a private tatami room for up to 12 guests, where you can enjoy a traditional Kyoto experience, complete with Maiko and Geisha performing arts. While such experiences are often limited, we are proud to offer this cultural heritage to anyone who wishes to partake.
